I started with Whessoe on January 15th 2015, walking straight into the Design Project Manager position for the Petronas Tank project in Malaysia. Samsung C&T are the main EPC, they nominated Whessoe to complete the design. I spent 15 months on the project, managing the development of the design documents and the 3D model in Smartplant. Construction is still in progress, Tank 1 is shown above, with all four steel platforms underway, we even have some pipes on the fill platform so progress is doing well. The Tank 2 roof concrete works is near completion, so the steelwork will undoubtedly start soon.
In April 2016 I transferred to the Bahrain LNG Terminal Project, taking on the Engineering Manager's role for the PMC, managing the Korean EPC (GS E&C) here in Seoul. This month has been all about the 30% 3D Model Review, Hazid, Hazop and SIL assessments, with no major concerns so far, progress is going well.
I've been in Seoul for 10 months solid and will finally return to the UK in April for a well deserved rest, then back out again in May to hopefully see design completion around October.
With insufficient projectrs on the books so far, it will be a very challenging year ahead for our Whessoe home office in Darlington, so our fingers are crossed.
