LNG - Marine Loading Arms - Ship to Shore & LNGC to FSU Transfer:

The MLA's are a critical part of the LNG carrier and Re-Gasification process.

The MLA's are fixed to the off-shore jetty, providing the vital liquid transfer connection to the ship.

Despite the ship being tied to the jetty via mooring lines, the vessel still moves due to the motion  of the waves.

The loading arms monitor this movement continuously. If the movement increases beyond the normal expectations (ie: as a result of mooring failure) the liquid transfer will halt and if necessary, the Loading arms with decouple from the ship, thus preventing them from being dragged into the sea. Ingenious mechanics, state of the art controls, great engineering.
